Target Audience: Physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with special interest in antimicrobial stewardship.
 
Session Learning Objectives: 
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
  1. Review commonly used antibiotics and their clinical indications.
  2. Describe the spectrum of activity of commonly used antibiotic classes, including important Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and atypical coverage.
  3. Identify key antibiotic “pearls” regarding dosing, adverse effects, drug interactions, and clinical considerations.

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
  1. Apply the current standards for outpatient antimicrobial stewardship practice when solving complex patient or system challenges and improving antibiotic prescribing in ambulatory care settings.

Please note that this series is accredited for continuing pharmacy education via ACPE as a "regularly scheduled series".  Each session within the series will appear on your CPE Monitor with the same title and Universal Activity Number (UAN); however, you may attend and claim credit for all individual sessions within the series.
