Description:  The 2018 Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education Program will provide 4 hours of CE credit. Attendees will participate in active learning activities to apply concepts learned through each of the individual sessions.

Learning Objectives:
 
Medication Error Reporting

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1.  Discuss the importance of reporting medication errors
2.  List the most common types of medication errors
3.  Identify strategies to minimize the most common medication errors made by pharmacy technicians
 
Pain and Controlled Substances

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1.  Outline goals for acute and chronic pain management
2.  Discuss therapy options for treating pain, including opioids, non-opioid medications and adjuvant therapies and associated legal requirements for use
3.  Discuss appropriate storage, disposal and overdose risk prevention with opioids
 
Oral Health

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1.  Describe the importance of oral care, including preventative oral hygiene
2.  Compare and contrast available OTC products for oral care and preventative oral hygiene
3.  Identify red flags in oral health that warrant referral to a dental professional
 
Essential Nutrients and Vitamins

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1.  List common nutritional deficiencies and products commonly used to treat
2.  Identify product composition, including supplemental fact labeling and associated terminology
3.  Discuss resources available to find information regarding nutrients, vitamins and herbal products

Requirements for CE Credit

To claim credit, participants must sign-in at the beginning of the session and attend the entire session.  No partial credit will be issued.  Participants must complete an online evaluation within 30 days (providing their correct NABP e-profile number and day/month of birth) in order to ensure credit is reported to the NABP CPE Monitor.  Any credit claimed greater than 60 days from the date of the program will not be accepted by the NABP CPE Monitor.
