Ready to Vaccinate Pharmacy Technician Training Program

This training program is designed to train pharmacy technicians to administer vaccinations through a 2-hour classroom didactic portion followed by 1 hour live or virtual skills check off. Both the didactic session and the skills check-off will be offered at multiple dates and times as detailed below.
 

 
Didactic Session (ACPE UAN 0062-9999-21-066-L06-T, 2 live credit hours, application-based)
Faculty: Kristy Brittain, PharmD, BCPS, CDCES, Associate Professor & Clinical Pharmacy Specialist
 
At the completion of the Didactic Session the pharmy technician will be able to:
  1. Discuss implications of recent legislation on the pharmacy technician's role in vaccination programs
  2. Outline requirements of the pharmacy technician to participate in vaccination programs
  3. Describe the vaccines available for administration by pharmacy technicians, including pertinent information on vaccine type, storage and handling, and route of administration
  4. Access and utilize readily available resources during the provision of vaccination
  5. Recognize signs and symptoms of adverse reactions, including anaphylaxis
  6. Discuss appropriate methods for emergency response

  • Tuesday, March 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • Wednesday, March 31 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm
  • Monday, April 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm

Skills Check-off (ACPE UAN 0062-9999-21-067-L06-T, 1 live credit hour, application-based)

At the completion of the skills check-off activity, the pharmacy technician will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate safe and effective vaccine administration techniques for intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SQ) injections

Fees: $150 (Live virtual training + in-person check-off)
             $170 (Live virtual training + virtual check-off – includes fee for shipping of materials)

Requirements for CE Credit

To claim CE credit, participants must attend the didactic session in its entirety (no partial credit will be awarded for attendance at a portion of a session) and must participate in all active learning activities and learning assessments through the virtual platform. Following participation in the didactic activity, the participant must successfully complete a skills checkoff session.
 
To claim credit for this activity, participants must complete the online program evaluation and must update their accounts to properly reflect their month/day of birth and correct NABP e-Profile ID.  To register with NABP or look up your NABP e-Profile ID, please click on the CPE Monitor logo below to be directed to their site. 
 
Credit that is claimed greater than 60 days from the date of the program will be automatically rejected by the CPE Monitor.  Claiming credit within 30 days of the live program will ensure that any issues with transmission to the CPE Monitor can be rectified in advance of the 60-day deadline.  If you would like a paper statement of credit, you may print an individual statement or a transcript from your NABP e-Profile.
