PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  The goal of this program is to provide pharmacy technicians, regardless of their practice setting, with the basic knowledge and tools to assist them in providing quality care to their clients and to update their knowledge and skill sets.
SPEAKER INFORMATION:  Dr. Brittain earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Wilkes University, Pennsylvania and completed post graduate year at Campbell University and Kerr Drug, NC.  She is a member of numerous state and national pharmacy organizations and has held several leadership positions. She is board-certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDCES).

Medication Errors & Patient Safety

Pharmacy Legal & Regulatory Update 2023

Objectives:
  1. Discuss legislative changes in South Carolina that impact pharmacy practice
  2. Summarize federal and state legislation related to hormonal contraception and immunization practices in community pharmacy
  3. Discuss the pharmacy technician’s role in relation to the legislation regarding contraception
 
Immunization Update 2023
(ACPE UAN 0062-9999-23-063-L06-T, 1 credit hour, knowledge-based)
Objectives:
  1. Identify how vaccines work with the immune system to develop lasting immune response
  2. Discuss legal and regulatory updates impacting the provision of immunizations
  3. Identify updates to the ACIP recommended vaccines for pediatric and adult populations
 
New Medications on the Market
(ACPE UAN 0062-9999-23-064-L01-T, 1 credit hour, knowledge-based)
Objectives:
  1. Identify recently approved medications on the U.S. market
  2. Discuss appropriate dosing and administration information for the newly approved medications
  3. Recognize adverse effects to properly assess and monitor patients on therapy

Requirements for CE Credit

Participants must sign in upon arrival, have attendance verified, attend the program in its entirety, and fully complete the associated online evaluation(s).  
 
To claim credit for this activity, participants must complete the online program evaluation(s) within 30 days from the start of the activity, and must update their accounts to properly reflect their month/day of birth and correct NABP e-Profile ID.  To register with NABP or look up your NABP e-Profile ID, please click on the CPE Monitor logo below to be directed to their site.
