Salty vs. Sweet: A Pro-Con Debate of Hyperosmolar Therapy 
  1. Review the pathophysiology and common causes of elevated intracranial pressure (ICP)
  2. Describe the rationale behind the use of hyperosmolar therapy (hypertonic saline and mannitol)
  3. Evaluate published guidelines and primary literature
  4. Compare patient specific factors and clinical outcomes with hyperosmolar pharmacotherapy
 

 
Registration:
Registration is $10. You must register in advance to attend!  Once you have completed the registration process, you should receive an email confirmation of your registration to the email address associated with the account

Registration Deadline:
The deadline to register for this program is 12pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
 
Cancellations:  
USC College of Pharmacy reserves the right to cancel the programming.  In the event of a cancellation, each participant will be notified via email prior to the program and a full tuition refund will be made.  All cancellations on the part of the participant and associated refunds should be requested in writing on or before the date of the activity and will be subject to a 7.5% administrative fee. No cancellation requests will be accepted after the date of the activity.
 
Technology Requirements:  
  • Please login to zoom meeting by 12:20 (We ask you to join at least 10 minutes prior , as there may be updates that you need to download.)
  • All participants must have an electronic device with a stable internet connection and working video/audio capabilities in order to participate. 
  • All activities will be held via Zoom.  Participants must download the latest version of Zoom and register for Zoom using their first and last name (to allow for registration to be verified upon admittance to the room).
  • Full Zoom system requirements, if needed, may be found here for Windows, macOS, and Linux or here for iOS, iPadOS, and Android.

Requirements for CPE Credit: 
  • In order to have CPE Credit transmitted to the NABP CPE Monitor, participants must:
    • Be registered for the activity via this site
    • Participants must join the Zoom meeting before the meeting starts, via a computer, tablet, or mobile device which will allow for viewing of video and listening to audio. 
      • All participants should log into Zoom separately to allow for verification of attendance.  Please message us if you and another registrant will be viewing together.
      • Note: participants joining greater than 10 minutes after the start time will NOT be permitted to claim CE credit.
    • Attend the session in its entirety (participants who log-in late or leave the session early will not be eligible for credit).
    • Actively participate in all polling questions, discussions, active learning, and learning assessments.
    • Complete the electronic evaluation within 30 days following completion of the activity.  Any credit claimed greater than 60 days from the date of the program will automatically be rejected by the CPE Monitor. 
      • Registration with a proper disclosure of your correct NABP Id/Birthday is a requirement for receiving Continuing Pharmacy Education

Requirements for CE Credit

Participants must sign in upon arrival and have attendance verified.
 
To claim credit for this activity, participants must complete an online program evaluation and must update their accounts to properly reflect their month and day of birth and their correct NABP E-Id.  Registration with a proper disclosure of your NABP E-Id is a requirement for receiving Continuing Pharmacy Education.  To register with or look up your NABP E-Id, please click on the CPE Monitor logo below to be directed to their site.  Failure to follow this process within the required timeframe will result in loss of credit.  If you would like a paper statement of credit, you may print an individual statement or a transcript from your NABP e-profile.
