Update and Review of Statures and Regulations Governing Pharmacy Practice

This activity is designed to provide and update on state and federal statutes and regulations governing pharmacy practice with a focus on areas where compliance may be a concern and illustrate emerging trends in pharmacy practice law.
 
Controversies and Updates in the Management of Dyslipidemia
ACPE# 0062-0000-15-157-L01-P/T (2 contact hours or 0.2CEUs)
This activity is designed to update pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on the controversies associated with clinical guidelines and treatment of dyslipidemias as well as the emerging trends in therapy including non-statins such as PCSK9 inhibitors.
 
Immunization Update 2015

This activity is designed to update pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on recent changes in adult and pediatric recommendations as well as highlight best practices for pharmacy-based immunization delivery. Dr. Blake will also highlight recent updates in the SC Pharmacy Practice Act related to immunizations.
 
What’s New in Diabetes Management?
ACPE#0062-0000-15-159-L01-P/T(1 contact hour or 0.1 CEUs)
This activity is designed to update pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on recent changes in guidelines for treatment of patients with diabetes as well as the newer medications now available and the evidenced based role in therapy. The importance of lifestyle modifications in outcomes in diabetes treatment will also be discussed.

Parking is available free of charge in USC parking lots on Saturdays.  The two closest lots are listed below.  The red lines indicate the best walking path to the program location.  Street parking is also available.

SCCP reserves the right to cancel the entire program.  In the event of a conference cancellation, each participant will be notified via email prior to the program and a full tuition refund will be made.

Cancellation Policy: All refunds should be requested in writing on or before November 2, 2015 and will be subject to a $6 administrative fee. No cancellation requests will be accepted after November 2, 2015.

Requirements for CE Credit

Participants must check in with the front desk upon arrival and have attendance verified.

1.Recall recent changes to federal statutes and regulations governing pharmacy practice in South Carolina;
2. Identify areas within the SC Pharmacy Practice Act and Controlled Substances Act where compliance may be
a concern;
3.Explain the concepts of
a. a valid prescription order
b. a valid patient-physician relationship
c. a corresponding responsibility for the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances
4. Discuss challenges that pharmacy technicians encounter while working to meet their responsibilities to
customers.
5.Describe a systematic approach that can be used for screening controlled substance prescriptions
6.Discuss emerging duties and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians as illustrated in recent case law
